Interconnected World
Buddhist ethics and contemporary issues
Tuesday, 7 December (6pm) to Sunday, 12 December (after lunch)
With Maitrisara, Guhyapati and Khemasuri
For Order members only.
In this seminar, we will be exploring how the Buddha’s timeless teachings can shed light on some of the ethical dilemmas we face today. We will be considering Buddhist perspectives on issues such as peace, social equality, ecology, economics and technology. And we will be asking how Buddhist practice can help us most effectively bring about change.
The aim of the seminar — which is related to one of the modules in the FWBO Dharma training course for Mitras — is to stimulate thought and discussion and to help us better understand our place in an interconnected world. We will consider the particular challenges that face us in teaching this material whether as part of the mitra study course or more informally.
We will try out some of the creative and experiential activities which have been suggested in the teachers notes to help support the learning in this module.
Suggested donation: £150. Accommodation: £15/10 per night.
Please book early. Our teachers put a lot of preparation into the seminars — sometimes several weeks of work. We would find it irresponsible to let them do all that and then cancel the even at short notice due to lack of participants.
If you consider attending, but aren’t as yet certain, please let us know. By booking early, you can help us prevent disappointment on all sides.
