Developing the Practice of Reflection
A Collaborative Experiment for Order Members
With Ratnaguna and members of the Dharmapala College team
Initial Event: Tuesday, 4 May (6pm) to Tuesday, 11 May (after lunch)
Follow-up weekends: 16 to 18 July and 8 to 10 October
Reflection is a very important aspect of Buddhist practice but very little has been written about how to go about it. Order members understand the importance of reflection and many would like to reflect more than they do, but don’t know how to.
In the first week-long event we’ll explore some ideas and exercises that may help us to take our reflections further and deeper. In doing this we’ll be doing a certain amount of experimentation – trying things out and assessing their value for us.
We hope that over the following months every participant will continue to practice and experiment with different ways of reflecting. In the follow-up weekends we’ll share our experiences – what has worked and what hasn’t – with each other. In between events we’ll keep in touch with each other through an internet forum – a reflection blog!
If and when we feel we have developed some effective methods that have helped us in our own practice, we’ll share the results of our experiments with the rest of the Order.
Suggested donation, including all three events: £ 300. Accommodation £15/10 per night.
Please book early. Our teachers put a lot of preparation into the seminars — sometimes several weeks of work. We would find it irresponsible to let them do all that and then cancel the even at short notice due to lack of participants.
If you consider attending, but aren’t as yet certain, please let us know. By booking early, you can help us prevent disappointment on all sides.
