What we offer
Dharmapala College events are for serious practitioners of the Dharma who want to take their understanding and experience of Buddhism deeper. Usually, we will assume that you have a reasonable working knowledge of basic Dharma, supported by a sympathetic, though certainly not uncritical, attitude towards Buddhism. You are more likely to benefit from our integrative approach, if you are a regular meditator and have already been on at least one longer meditation retreat.
Most of our seminars-retreats combine in-depth enquiry with meditative reflection. We want you to get a strong taste of the radical enquiry that we consider essential for effective Dharma practice and teaching. Additionally—depending on your specific learning needs—we may be able to offer individual guidance, including support on how to teach a particular subject at your centre.
Some of our events are limited to members of the Western Buddhist Order. Please check this out before you book. If you are wondering whether a particular event is suitable for you, do not hesitate to contact us at info@dharmapalacollege.org. We will be happy to help.
In short, we target our activities so that you may
- deepen your understanding and practice of the Dharma,
- develop expertise and skill in individual and collaborative study,
- learn particular methods and approaches that will make your teaching more effective.
Under the following links, you will find short descriptions of our events, while all links under 2008 schedule will lead you to more comprehensive descriptions of our events:
Besides these events, most of which will take place at Madhyamaloka in Birmingham as well as various retreat centres, we are happy to offer courses, seminars and workshops at your local centre. Here, we’ll further develop the work that we’ve begun in 2007. Participants of such events who wish to go deeper, may then attend a ‘level 2′ event at Madhyamaloka.
