Our Approach

How we work

Our main concern is to help you to engage with the theme of the event so that you understand it well and feel enabled to embark on exploring its relevance for your own Dharma practice.

Our approach - both in terms of individual versus communal activities and also the balance between study, reflection, and meditation — will vary from one event to another. In general, you can expect a programme that will include periods of silent reflection as well as of group activities. Usually, there will be a blend of presentations, group discussion, shrine room practice (meditation and devotion), along with time for silent study.

Since people will take to themes and styles of presentation in rather different ways, we usually opt for a collaborative approach to ‘teaching’. We aim at creating a learning environment that will stimulate an open-minded, critical enquiry and one that will allow for respectful self-disclosure. In particular, we want you to find a way to actively participate in a way you find both congenial and challenging.
